Colors and textures decisively influence how we perceive shapes. In search of the new, the master photographer Guido Argentini, during a photo session in Miami in 1995, was inspired to paint a model’s entire body silver. The result was as beautiful as it was astonishing—the fine grayish shading emphasized edges and surfaces in a way that seemed otherworldly.

Argentini was so fascinated that he has now created an entire series of photos with silvered models, thereby opening completely new perspectives for nude photography. His photographs recall Brancusi’s highly polished objects and the dynamism of Degas’s ballet drawings. Through them, the human body gains the firmness of sculpture and the lively energy of dance.
