Miniature figure - Art Deco pheasant drip catcher - .835 silver

Solid silver miniature pheasant, made in Germany in the early 1900s (Art Deco period).

It is designed to prevent tea from spilling. A small cord with a tiny sponge is attached to it, which hangs from the teapot's spout; when pouring tea, any drop running down the spout is caught by the sponge. Very practical.

Hallmarked with the crescent moon and crown (indicating German origin and 835 silver purity). The silversmith also applied a maker's mark, though I cannot immediately identify it.
