Scailmont - Centrepiece - Glass - Heemskerk - Van Boeckel

Belgian Art Deco jardinière / fruit bowl in artistic wrought iron with an amber-colored pressed glass bowl — attributed to Scailmont, designed by Henri Heemskerk — circa 1930, consisting of an artistically crafted wrought-iron frame with stylized leaves and roses, combined with a heavy amber pressed glass bowl.

The glass bowl is made of warm honey- to amber-colored pressed glass with a beautifully faceted rim and a subtle floral relief on the bottom. The quality and workmanship are characteristic of Belgian pressed glass from the first half of the 20th century and are attributed to Scailmont. The wrought ironwork is handcrafted and fits perfectly with the bowl.
The piece is completed by the original amber-colored Scailmont underplate, creating a particularly harmonious and decorative whole that beautifully emphasizes the aesthetics of Belgian design from the mid-20th century.

According to tradition, the frame is said to originate from a workshop that collaborated with Heemskerk and is probably by Van Boeckel.

Henri Heemskerk (1886–1953) was a Belgian artist and chief designer. He is best known as artistic director and designer at the Verreries de Scailmont glass factory.
In the early 1900s, the smith Lodewijk 'Louis' Van Boeckel (1857 - 1944) stood at the world’s top of his craft and earned the highest award at the Paris World Exposition.

The whole forms a particularly decorative object that fits beautifully within an Art Deco, country, or classical interior. Suitable as a fruit bowl, flower bowl, or exclusive decorative piece.

Very good condition. The wrought ironwork is sturdy and stable. The glass bowl is in beautiful condition with only light signs of wear appropriate to its age, with no noticeable damage.

A very rare and attractive Belgian decorative ensemble in which the combination of artistic wrought iron and warm amber-colored pressed glass comes into its own particularly well. Ideal for collectors of Belgian design, Art Deco and decorative glass.
