antique French Comtoise clock. This specific type of wall clock was originally made from the late 17th century to the early 20th century in the Franche-Comté region of France. Characteristic of this model are the white enameled dial with Roman numerals, the two heavy cast-iron weights, the long pendulum (often a folding or cord pendulum), and the distinctive cast-iron or copper fronton at the top. The bell hammers are taped over due to the loud sound and can be removed.
