Rare and highly decorative German “Permanent Match” (petrol wick lighter) by Sarastro, dating from the Art Deco period.

Made of 935 sterling silver, the entire surface is covered with refined geometric niello decoration, giving the piece a distinctly modernist Bauhaus-inspired appearance.
The removable lighter element is topped with an amethyst-coloured cabochon glass finial.

The original internal wick mechanism is still present.
Clearly marked on the base:
“SARASTRO STERLING 935”.
