Icon - Wood - Most Holy Trinity

An Orthodox icon of the Holy Trinity, specifically a representation of the Trinity of the New Testament.

In the upper inscription, one can read it in ecclesiastical Church Slavonic:

«Трипостасное Божество» — «The Divinity of Three Persons».

What it represents
On the left: Jesus Christ, the Son, depicted with a human appearance and holding the Gospel.
On the right: God the Father, depicted as an Elder with a white beard.
Above, in the center: the Holy Spirit, represented by a dove within a circle of light.
In the center: an orb or sphere appears, symbolizing the world and creation, with a small figure inside it.
The three Persons are surrounded by the golden divine light, characteristic of Orthodox iconography.

This icon belongs to the iconographic tradition known as the “Trinity of the New Testament,” very widespread in Russian painting.
