Gritzner brand Gritzner Model R 1913 sewing machine from Germany in good used condition with minor signs of age and spots.
Description from the seller
For sale: A splendid antique Gritzner Model R sewing machine from the year 1913 (based on serial number 3144037). Gritzner was known for its high-quality German craftsmanship and refined mechanics, which is perfectly reflected in this early 'vibrating shuttle' (schwingschiff) model.
Exceptional condition of the decals (gold embellishments)
The absolute highlight of this machine is the condition of the original Jugendstil/Art Nouveau decals. Where these golden floral decorations on most machines of this age are largely worn away, they are exceptionally well preserved and bright on this exemplar. This is of invaluable value to collectors, since replacement decals for Gritzner machines – unlike, for example, Singer – are not available on the market. A unique chance to acquire a visual centerpiece.
Dimensions are including the cover
This exemplar has been converted in the past to electric drive with a motor. The motor has been dismantled, so the machine currently has no hand crank. If you want to use the machine again as a hand sewing machine, a loose, original Gritzner hand crank is very easy and affordable to find online or at fairs. The mechanism runs smoothly.
The machine is supplied very complete with:
The original wooden protective cover with handle. The key is missing and a closure plate that belongs on the cover, but this is easy to find/replace.
An extensive set of authentic accessories and attachments (including various hemming and sewing feet).
A set of antique spare needles and spool threads.
A beautiful, authentic decorative piece for the enthusiast or a valuable addition for the serious collector.
