Teke Hunter's Mask - DR Congo (No reserve price)

This striking Teke Hunter’s Mask originates from the upper Ogowe region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it has been traditionally crafted and worn by members of the Kidumu society. Hand-carved from a single piece of lightweight wood, the mask features the distinctive circular form and bold geometric patterns that define Teke artistry. Its surface is adorned with earthy pigments—deep ochres, charcoal blacks, and chalky whites—symbolizing the balance between the physical and spiritual worlds.

The mask’s symmetrical design, with its central ridge and radiating motifs, reflects the Teke belief in harmony and order.
