Boujad Berber wool rug from Morocco, model Boujad, 160 × 120 cm, hand-knotted from 100% natural sheep wool.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Handmade Moroccan Berber rug from the Boujad region in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Woven by hand by Berber women using traditional techniques and 100% natural sheep wool.

Boujad rugs are known for their soft pastel palettes and expressive, symbolic compositions. This piece features a warm mauve-pink background centered around a striking orange medallion, with accents of deep forest green, ivory, and small black details — a graceful and balanced composition typical of Boujad weaving. Finished with natural cream wool fringes.

- Dimensions: 160 x 120 cm
- Material: 100% natural sheep wool on a cotton warp
- Technique: Hand-knotted
- Knot density: Traditional Berber knotting (not machine-measured, typical of handmade Boujad rugs)
- Colours: Mauve pink, orange, forest green, cream, black
- Origin: Boujad, Middle Atlas, Morocco
- Year of production: 2024

Each Boujad rug is one-of-a-kind. Small irregularities in pattern, colour, and weave are natural characteristics of authentic handmade Berber rugs and add to their charm and authenticity.

Seller's Story

Our rugs come directly from Morocco. My partner lives in Khenifra, in the heart of the Middle Atlas mountains — one of the historic centres of Moroccan rug weaving — and sources every single piece himself, in person, from the Berber families who weave them there on traditional looms. Nothing is bought in bulk or through intermediaries. Each rug is selected by hand — wool quality, density of the weave and the dyes are checked before purchase — and then described honestly, including small repairs, minor irregularities or natural signs of age, which are part of the character of a handmade piece. Our focus is Beni Ourain, Azilal, Boujaad, Zayane and vintage Moroccan flatweaves (kilim / hanbel). For most pieces we can tell you the region of origin, the approximate age and the materials used. All rugs are professionally cleaned before dispatch, carefully packed and shipped worldwide with tracking. Questions before bidding are always welcome — we answer quickly.
