Circulating coin of the Portuguese Republic issued during the Estado Novo period, belonging to the well-known maritime-themed commemorative series. The obverse features a sailing caravel with billowed sails advancing over the sea, a direct symbol of Portugal’s naval and exploratory tradition, with a dynamic design and very well balanced composition. The reverse shows the national shield superimposed on the armillary sphere, a historically deeply linked element to Portuguese identity, with excellent relief definition and very clean fields. The specimen stands out for its exceptional state of preservation, with intense original luster, an attractively silver tone, and fully crisp details, qualities that fully justify its high MS65 grade and place it among the best-preserved examples of this issue.
