Description from the seller
PALESTINE. 5 Mils. 1946.
- Value: 5 Mils.
- Year: 1946.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: PALESTINE · פלשתינה (א״י) · فلسطين around a vegetal crown; date 1946 and ١٩٤٦ at the bottom. Reverse: 5 MILS · חמישה מיל · خمسة مِلّ arranged circularly around the central hole; pearled border around the edge.
- Grade: UNC Detail (PCGS).
Coin of 5 Mils in a base alloy with its characteristic central hole, a distinctive feature of the British Mandate emissions in Palestine. The design presents a crown of stylized branches on the obverse and the face value in three languages — English, Hebrew, and Arabic — reflecting the complex administrative and cultural reality of the territory. The reliefs are well defined with little wear, preserving complete details in the leaves and typography. A representative specimen of the last issues prior to the end of the Mandate in 1948, within a period of intense political transformation in the region.
