Rare and Elegant Silver Engraved Unstamped Toiletry Set - Bamboo Décor - Marked Zeesung Silver - 4 Pieces

Ancient toiletry set, comprising four pieces, all adorned with a magnificent engraved decoration. This set, made at the end of the 19th century or the early 20th century, is an exceptional example of Chinese silversmithing art designed for export.

The set was manufactured by the renowned Chinese silversmith Zeesung, active in Shanghai at the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century.

Each item bears a cartouche with the initials engraved in the buyer’s name “M de Li.”

The set consists of:

1. A large hand mirror: A beveled mirror, framed by a back in silver richly engraved with bamboo stalks and leaves. A cartouche bears the initials engraved “M de Li.”

2. A hair brush: With natural bristles in good condition, this brush has a matching silver back engraved with the same bamboo motif.

3. A clothes brush: Rectangular in shape, with natural bristles, it also features a silver back engraved with the bamboo decor.

4. A comb: The back of the comb is also silver and decorated.

- Condition: The set is in very good condition for its age, with a beautiful natural patina. There are light signs of wear and minor oxidation on the silver, which is normal for objects of this era. One tooth is missing from the comb. See photos for details.
