Danseuse mauresque, an albumen print from 1880 by an attributed Jean Garrigues (XIX), 18 x 24 cm, non-signed, in good condition, a documentary photography work with a clear lighting and detailed grayscale, originating from Tunisia.

Circa 1880, 18x24 cm.
"Danseuse mauresque", très beau portrait de la fin du dix neuvième siècle, attribué à Jean Garrigues.
Very beautiful vintage albumen print in very good condition, loose and not mounted (rare).
Excellent preservation of contrasts, grey tones and levels of detail.
Legended in the bottom left of the negative.
Jean Garrigues was active in Tunisia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, in a context of photographic expansion linked to the protectorate and the development of tourism. Photographer and publisher, he produced urban views, scenes of daily life, and portraits distributed as prints and postcards.
His work is characterized by a clear light and a clean composition, attentive to architecture, markets and local figures, through a production that is both documentary and commercial.
Will be shipped with its neutral pH sleeve (ideal for a collection in good condition).
