Description from the seller

Pioneer SX-D5000 Quartz Synthesized Stereo Receiver (1980)

Pioneer SX-D5000 Quartz Synthesized Stereo Receiver, made in Japan in October 1980 (serial number AJ8400607S).

A genuine monster from the Pioneer D-series…

A transition model from the early 80s, one of the first Pioneer D-series receivers with a quartz PLL digital tuner. It represents the shift from the classic 70s analogue design to the digital aesthetics of the new decade. Limited production and hard to find in good condition, especially with a well-preserved silver front panel.

Technical specifications
• Output power: 80 W per channel into 8 Ω (20 Hz – 20 kHz, THD ≤ 0.005%)
• Power consumption: 400 W (main board) / up to 530 W maximum
• Dimensions: 499 × 173 × 460 mm (W × H × D)
• Net weight: 16.2 kg
• Power supply: 220/240 V ~ 50/60 Hz with voltage selector (European/export version)
• Speaker impedance: A or B = 8 Ω; A+B = 16–32 Ω
• Tuner: Digital Quartz PLL synthesizer (FM 88–108 MHz / AM 535–1605 kHz)
• 6 “Station Call” memories (FM + AM)
• AM 9 kHz / 10 kHz step selector
• FM de-emphasis 25 μs
• Pre/Power amp separable (jumpers)
• 2 pairs of speakers
• Controls: Low Filter, Mode Mono, Loudness, Muting –20 dB, Tape Monitor 1/2, Tape Duplicate, Adaptor loop
• Fluorescent power meters FLUROSCAN (0.01–80 W)
• Digital tuning and signal display
• Full connections: Phono MM, Aux, Tape 1/2, Adaptor, Pre Out / Power Amp In, FM 75 Ω / AM 300 Ω antennas

Condition
The unit is complete and in good working order.
The digital displays light up correctly, the FLUROSCAN power meters operate, the tuner locks in stereo (example visible at 92.20 MHz FM) and the Station Call indicators operate normally.
AM bar antenna (ball-joint) included.
Cosmetically it shows the normal wear for over 45 years: scratches and marks on the silver front panel, some residual dust, tape residue on the bass slider and light wear on buttons and knobs. The case and rear show signs of use, but the unit is complete and operational.

Notes
Limited production model, considered relatively rare within the Pioneer lineup of that era. The silver front panels are prone to damage, so specimens in this state of preservation are uncommon.
A receiver with a good characteristic non-switching, low-distortion sound, solid quartz tuner and a very representative look of the early 80s.
