Description from the seller
Antique brass fire fender (Fire Fender) – Victorian style – circa 1880-1920 – 102 cm
Beautiful antique fire fender made of solid brass. This decorative fireplace accessory was originally placed in front of an open fireplace to keep firewood and embers inside the hearth, while also providing a stylish finish to the fireplace.
The piece features a profiled bottom edge, two handsome balusters, and a round crossbar. Due to its warm, natural patina, the brass has a characterful appearance that fits well in both classic and country interiors.
Probably manufactured in England at the end of the 19th century or the early 20th century (c. 1880-1920). On the back there is a '79J' stamp, presumably a model or production number.
