Description from the seller

Natural green tourmaline crystals (Verdelite) – 53.55 ct – approx. 60 rough crystals – Afghanistan – untreated

For sale is an attractive collection of natural green tourmaline crystals (verdelite) with a total weight of 53.55 carats from Afghanistan.

The lot comprises about 60 individual prismatic rough crystals in varying sizes. Most crystals have a length of about 5 to 18 mm, some specimens reach around 20 to 25 mm. The crystals show the characteristic prismatic habit of tourmaline with well visible longitudinal striations and a remarkable variety of natural green tones—from pale yellow-green to olive and forest green to deep dark green. Some crystals also exhibit slight brown or pinkish hues, as can occur in natural tourmalines.

Many crystals are semi-transparent to transparent and have well-preserved prismatic faces. Some show natural end faces, others show typical fracture surfaces or small amounts of matrix residue. All pieces are natural and have not been cut or polished.

The macro photos were taken with a light source underneath the crystals. By transmitted light, transparency, color intensity, and natural color zoning are made clearly visible. This photographic technique is used solely to better illustrate the crystals and does not reflect their appearance under normal daylight. The last photo shows the collection in natural daylight without transmitted light and conveys the realistic overall impression.
