Description from the seller

Italian Mid-Century Floor-to-Ceiling Wall Unit – Teak, Black Enameled Iron & Brass – Italy, 1950s

Description:

A striking Italian mid-century modular wall unit, constructed from teak shelving and a tambour-door cabinet suspended on slender black enameled iron uprights, secured with adjustable brass tension fittings between floor and ceiling. This construction method — freestanding, requiring no wall fixing — is characteristic of Italian design production of the 1950s.

The piece comprises three uprights supporting four teak shelves and one tambour-door storage cabinet, with brass shelf-support clips and brass finial caps at floor and ceiling contact points. While this style of construction is closely associated with designers such as Ico Parisi, no maker’s mark or label could be located on this example, so it is offered as an unattributed piece of Italian design from the period rather than a confirmed work by a named designer.

Condition: Good vintage condition consistent with an original 1950s piece. Minor surface scratches are present throughout, and the brass fittings would benefit from polishing to restore their original shine. One or more small hardware components on the tambour cabinet door require reattachment — please refer to the detail photos for the exact location and current state before bidding. Black iron uprights show minor paint loss in places. Please refer to all photos for a full condition assessment.
