Beautiful Polychrome wall plaque of Archangel St. Michael as dragon-slayer - 1950s, manufactured by GRES GUERIN BOUFFLIOUX.
The plaque is in good used condition. It has the usual chips at the bottom edge and signs of wear on the edges. This does not diminish the decorative value of the object.

Generally, the dragon is culturally interpreted: From the old Germanic giant serpent, based on classical and biblical descriptions, arose a colossal bird with mighty claws, wings like a bat, a body covered in scales, and a mouth that spouted fire. Only the true noble knight, such as the Archangel Michael (recognizable by his wings) or Saint George — in our language, Saint George — could master this embodiment of Evil.
