Vase - Earthenware

Art Nouveau/Jugendstil vase executed in Majolica and characterized by a dark blue (aubergine) glaze with olive green and pale pink floral relief decorations, Europe ca 1890 - 1900.

Model number 10017, the large 'V' and the dark blue brushstrokes are the initials or workshop marks of the potter who decorated the vase.

The small 'x' mark (or crossed strokes) was used in many European factories as a quality stamp, inspection mark or oven mark.

These markings are highly characteristic for Central European porcelain factories from the early Art Nouveau / Jugendstil period (ca. 1890–1915).

Produced in the Bohemia/Austria-Hungary region (such as the well-known factories Eichwald, Amphora or Julius Dressler).
