Koizumi Type KP-27 compensating planimeter, manufactured in Japan as a precision mechanical instrument for calculating the area of irregular shapes on maps, engineering drawings and technical plans. The KP-27 is a recognised Japanese zero-setting polar planimeter design associated with professional surveying, cartography and technical drafting. Comparable documented examples are dated to around 1972.

The instrument incorporates an adjustable tracer arm, measuring wheel and vernier mechanism, supplied in its fitted metal carrying case. The set retains several original accessories together with operating instructions and calibration or scale tables, giving it stronger collector and display interest than an isolated instrument. The case also retains an older Libyan Arab Airlines identification label, providing an additional visible element of its individual history without establishing its original professional ownership.

The planimeter and case show age-related surface wear consistent with previous use and storage. The fitted interior, printed material and accessories remain present as photographed.
