Description from the seller
The Yaka of the DRC have a artistic tradition deeply linked to initiation rites and the cult of ancestors. The Koopha cups were used during ritual ceremonies, for offerings, the consumption of sacred drinks, or the preparation of substances related to divination and healing. Carefully carved, they symbolized prestige, spiritual protection, and the transmission of knowledge. These objects accompanied initiation societies and magico-religious practices within Yaka communities.
