An exquisite and rare antique jewelry/trinket box crafted in Tramp Art style, a renowned form of Folk Art based on carving and the geometric layered overlay of wood. The piece is dated 1902 and comes from the Alpine region of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Design and Carving: The lid features at the center the year of manufacture 1902 and the commemorative initials W J. On the front side stands out the hand-carved dedication "Zum Andenken" ("In memory"), evidencing its nature as a single commemorative gift or antique token of love.
Decorative Details: The structure is supported by mixed feet: the two front feet are worked brass/bronze, while the two rear feet are carved wood. The interior preserves its original vintage lithograph glued under the lid, a key element in certifying its historical integrity.
