Italian vintage pendant lamp in metal with a green-blue lacquer finish, circa 1955–1965, featuring a single counterweight adjustable drop system and a circular fluorescent diffuser, measuring 40 cm by 40 cm by 100 cm with a ceiling-to-diffuser height of 180 cm and weighing 4 kg, in good used condition with age patina, and supplied with a new bulb and starter.
Description from the seller
Fascinating and unusual vintage Italian pendant lamp, datable to the late 1950s to the 1960s, characterized by a sophisticated counterbalanced adjustable-height system that allows you to raise or lower the height of the large diffuser.
The lamp is predominantly made of lacquered metal in the original aqua/turquoise shade, a color particularly representative of postwar Italian design.
A distinctive feature is the large circular shade, inside which is installed an annular fluorescent tube, a technically quite particular solution compared with the more common lift-lamps of the era.
The suspension system comprises three fabric-covered cords, a coordinated metal canopy, and a distinctive cylindrical counterweight. Inside the mechanism is the raised marking “BREVETTATO.”
The lamp retains a pleasant original patina, with scratches, small paint losses and normal signs of wear visible in the photographs, testifying to its age and authenticity. Not restored. New bulb and starter included.
A piece with strong scenographic presence, particularly suitable for mid-century modern, industrial, modernist, or loft settings, ideal above a large dining table.
