Thomas Struth - Museum Photographs - 2005

Since his major solo exhibition, organized by the Dallas Museum of Art in 2002 and which moved on to Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, Thomas Struth (b. 1954) also became a recognized figure in the United States among the most recognized figures of the international photography elite. His reputation as one of the most important photo artists of German provenance was impressively confirmed by the American tour. With the cycle Museum Photographs, created between 1989 and 1992, he achieved his breakthrough to international fame. The series, which originally comprised 17 large-format color photographs and was first published in 1993, has now grown to 28 images. Our further edition, now offered at a special price, contains, in addition to the entire cycle of Museum Photographs in the narrower sense, i.e. the "museum images" of images in museums, photographs of works of art in their original location - for example, Bellini and Titian in Venetian churches, Raphael in the Vatican - or works of art on travel: Delacroix's Freedom in Tokyo and Vermeer in London's National Gallery.
