Description from the seller

Table Box / Modernist Pewter Biscuit Jar with Elephants - Hagness (Norway), 1960s - Model 201

Elegant cylindrical table container (cookie jar, sweets, or tobacco box) in refined satin pewter (Tinn), a superb example of mid-20th century Scandinavian modernism. Produced in Norway by the renowned artisanal workshop Hagness.

The piece stands out for its sculptural, linear design, strongly influenced by the proportions of traditional Nordic Baroque goblets from the 17th century, reinterpreted here in a minimalist key. The most rare and collectible feature lies in the figurative elements applied: the structure rests securely on three finely modeled elephant-shaped feet, while a full elephant serves as a knop on the completely removable lid.

The base bears the original hallmark, perfectly clear and legible: "Made in Norway - Hagness 201 - Pewter".

Country of origin: Norway
Manufacturer: Hagness
Model: 201
Era: Approximately 1960
Material: Pewter (Pewter / Tinn)
Dimensions: Height about 15 cm (including knop), diameter about 10 cm.
Conditions: Excellent vintage condition. The four sculpted elephants (feet and knop) are intact and in perfect condition, free of cracks or structural defects. The metal surface shows no deep scratches. Only a tiny, very light dent on the cylindrical body is noted, entirely consistent with the object's age and use and not affecting its splendid overall aesthetics.
