This elegant Art Nouveau/Jugendstil silver-plated egg and salt stand was designed by Albert Mayer for the German manufacturer WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) around 1895–1900
Maker & Designer: Produced by WMF with styling attributed to Albert Mayer, featuring characteristic fluid, organic handle contours.Function: Designed to hold boiled eggs alongside a central salt cellar (the original middle glass liner or insert is often missing or replaced).Period Style: Classic turn-of-the-century continental Art Nouveau characterized by stylized whiplash curves and symmetrical pedestal framing.
