Description from the seller

Old theatre glasses or French opera binoculars, made by Bourgeois Opticien, Paris, with the inscription: “BOURGEOIS OPTN PARIS – RUE DES PYRAMIDES No. 27”.

The address at 27 Rue des Pyramides, Paris, is documented as Bourgeois’s establishment, a manufacturer and trader of optical instruments; there are also examples of antique opera binoculars signed with this same address.

The piece features an attractive classical-style structure, finished in gold and black metal, with the optics’ bodies decorated and a central focusing system by a geared wheel.

The focusing mechanism works perfectly, preserving its functionality. The optics show normal signs of age and use.

Manufacturer: Bourgeois Opticien, Paris.
Inscription: “BOURGEOIS OPTN PARIS – RUE DES PYRAMIDES No. 27”.
Type: Theatre glasses / opera binoculars.
Material: Metal, probably bronze or cast brass, with a gold and black finish.
Era: Late 19th century / early 20th century, roughly.
Weight: 125 grams.
Dimensions: 9 cm long × 5 cm wide.
Condition:
- Significant wear on the gilding, especially on the bodies and in different areas of the structure, typical of age and use.
- Much of the original decoration remains.
- The lenses show signs of age, but the focusing mechanism functions correctly.

No case or pouch included.

The photographs are part of the description.

Shipped by InPost, UPS or Correos, depending on the destination country.
