Set of five knives with sterling silver handles (.925) and blades signed Zwilling J.A. Henckels, made in Italy circa 1910–1920; overall dimensions about 19 cm high, 3 cm wide and 3 cm deep, gross weight 290 g.
Description from the seller
Tested with acid .. silver 0.925
• Blade: Each blade is signed by the famous German brand ZWILLING J.A. Henckels, founded in 1731 in Solingen. Zwilling is worldwide renowned for the quality of its steels and the durability of its blades.
• Handle: The handles are in sterling silver, with a refined and classic design. There is a silver hallmark and a distinct maker's mark (probably different from Zwilling), as was common at the time.
This type of cutlery was often made in collaboration between different specialists: the blade coming from a renowned cutler like Henckels, and the handle from a silversmith or cutlery maker. This is very likely an example of that practice.
⸻
Condition and authenticity
• Good overall condition, blades well preserved with signs of normal use.
• Silver with a beautiful patina, cleaning possible according to your preferences.
• Markings visible on the blades, but some punches on the handles may be partial
