Mammuthus primigenius, a woolly mammoth heel bone specimen from the North Sea, dating to the Late Pleistocene (2.58–0.0117 million years ago), treated by desalination and cleaning, in natural condition, authentic/original, measures 18 cm long, 14 cm wide and 11 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Fossil mammoth heel bone - Mammuthus primigenius
Very beautiful complete heel bone
This is a mammoth heel bone, the largest bone in the tarsus (ankle), the insertion point of the Achilles tendon
These pieces have been desalted and are still in clean water; everyone conserves them in their own way, and I am happy to leave that to the next owner
Doggerland no longer exists, but traces of it can still be found on the beaches of the North Sea. It happens regularly that walkers, enthusiasts and researchers find something special there
Wonderful treasures such as a vertebra, tooth or a mammoth rib. Bones are brought to the surface on dredged sand flats and in fishing nets, as with this one also at the end of 2024
