This aesthetic restoration was performed by a professional lacquer specialist. The process involved meticulous stripping of the original chrome on each component, followed by several layers of paint (in homage to the limited edition « Safari »). The finish consists of a premium baked enamel coating, applied in four thin layers to ensure exceptional durability as well as increased resistance to chips and delamination.
This meticulous artisanal process guarantees great longevity while preventing oxidation and paint deterioration. The glossy Leica emblematic finish is renowned for its complexity and the standards it demands; it gives the body a unique and striking look. With prolonged use, the case will gradually develop a brass-like patina (exposure of the underlying metal), creating a rich and beautiful patina that embodies the classic charm of a Leica that has lived.
The camera is in excellent condition and fully functional, with an impeccable finish. All components have been tested; the body is in very good condition and the shutter speeds are precise. The rangefinder functions correctly and the shutter curtains are perfectly flat and in excellent condition. The viewfinder has undergone professional servicing: it is bright and clear, enabling fast and precise focusing thanks to the yellow rangefinder patch.
