Japy Frères travel alarm clock – Japonisant décor – Grand Prix of Watchmaking 1878 – France, late 19th century

Rare and very decorative French pendulette-réveil attributed to Japy Frères, dating from the late 19th century, around 1880-1890.

Metal case and gilt brass resting on four feet, with an elegant faceted top handle. Very beautiful polychrome decoration in japonisant style depicting birds, butterflies, flowers and foliage on a turquoise background.

White enamel dial with Roman numerals, intricately crafted antique hands. Mechanical hand-wound movement with alarm function and bell strike.

On the back are the inscriptions:
