Magnificent chief's or dignitary's Yombe cane (Mvwala), symbol of authority, lineage, and power in Kongo culture.
Top (anthropomorphic figure): The staff is topped with a female effigy sculpted in a kneeling position. Among the Yombe, this posture signifies respect, ancestor worship, and fertility. The figurine features a highly stylized hairstyle (bun/traditional headdress), expressive facial features, and beautiful geometric scarification patterns incised on the chest and back.
Shaft / Handle: The body of the cane is adorned with carved geometric registers (diamonds and lattices) framed by bulges or ritual pommels carved in the mass.
