An nested weight set of the “Pile de Charlemagne” or "Bechergewicht" type, made of cast bronze and comprising nine interlocking weights that nest inside a carrying box with a zoomorphic handle, hinged lid, and original clasp.
These sets were used by European merchants, apothecaries, and traders for the precise weighing of goods. Their design allowed transporting a wide range of weights in a compact and protected format.
Period: 18th–19th centuries
