Special Austrian Art Nouveau candle holder with integrated match holder, manufactured by Ernst Wahliss around 1900.

The object is designed with a seated female figure and executed in high-fired ceramic (porcelain) with matte and lightly iridescent glazes in soft blue, gray, and gold tones. The flowing lines and organic design are characteristic of Austrian Jugendstil/Art Nouveau around 1900.

On the underside there are remnants of the Ernst Wahliss mark, the impressed model number 4673 / 19, and the designation “Made in Austria.”

This model is depicted in the reference work Monsters and Maidens – Collectors Edition by Byron Vreeland, page 459.

Condition: very good to excellent, without chips, cracks or restorations.
