French Régule and alabaster mantel clock, estimated period 1880–1920, Napoléon III style, featuring a pair of XVIIIth‑century figures beside an enamel Roman-numeral dial and a white marble plinth with Rocaille ornamentation, with a mechanical wind-up movement, adjustable pendulum, half-hour strike on a gong, and a power reserve for several days; height 30 cm, width 27 cm, depth 7.5 cm, weight 2.2 kg, winding key included.

Beautiful French Napoleon III period mantel clock, made circa 1850–1870 in gilded régule and white marble.
It features a refined decor composed of a couple of eighteenth-century-dressed figures framing an enamel dial with Roman numerals. The whole rests on a white marble base adorned with rich Rococo ornamentation featuring volutes, foliage and a central mascaron.
The mechanical key-wound movement is accompanied by its adjustable pendulum, its striking chime, and its original key, all present.
This clock perfectly illustrates the Second Empire taste for eighteenth-century styles and constitutes a fine decorative and collectible object.
Good overall condition. Wear to the gilding, light-soiling and signs of age in keeping with the object's age. Please carefully examine the photographs which form an integral part of the description.
