Alec Cobbe: Designs for Historic Interiors is a 2013 first edition softback, in English, 96 pages, published by V&A Publishing, with Julius Bryant as author/illustrator and Isambard Thomas as designer/artist/maker, and personally signed by Alec Cobbe.
Description from the seller
Signed by Alec Cobbe (designer, painter and connoisseur) at the formal opening of the exhibition Alec Cobbe: Designer, Painter, Connoisseur on 5 June 2014 at Dublin Castle. The exhibition was curated and opened by Julius Bryant, Keeper of Word & Image at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Beautifully produced V&A catalogue marking the donation of Cobbe’s career archive. It showcases his pioneering work restoring and redecorating historic interiors, his revival of traditional picture-hanging (“accrocheur”), and schemes for great houses including Petworth, Harewood and Hatfield House.
Includes the warm foreword from Clarence House by HRH The Prince of Wales (now King Charles III). Personally signed by Alec Cobbe himself.
An elegant and increasingly scarce volume, especially desirable following Cobbe’s death in March 2026. Ideal for collectors of British interior design, country-house history and royal associations.
