Iron Age bronze armlet – unadorned armband with a D-shaped cross-section

Culture: Iron Age / Celtic cultural area
Material: Bronze
Dating: presumably Iron Age, by typological compare with pieces roughly dating from Hallstatt to earlier Latène period
Type: unadorned armlet with a D-shaped cross-section
Condition: age-appropriate, with a beautiful natural greenish patina
Description
Beautiful and impressive Iron Age bronze armlet with a simple, unadorned appearance. The armlet has a nearly circular to slightly oval contour and a robust, rounded to D-shaped cross-section. The ends are open and cut straight. The surface shows a pronounced green to turquoise patina, with darker and earthy encrustations in places. The patina and signs of wear give the piece an authentic archaeological character.

The present armlet typologically corresponds to the described “unadorned armlet with a D-shaped cross-section” in the illustrated specialist literature. Comparable shapes are classified in the Iron Age in the literature and occur especially in Central Europe.

An interesting object for a collection of Celtic or Iron Age bronzes and ancient jewelry.
