Description from the seller
Impressive carved wooden cornice, chiselled, stuccoed with plaster and gilded in fine gold, dating to the early 1900s. Spectacular in its appearance and form, its greatest asset is the modanated, multi-tiered profile, intricately carved, rich with chisellings and the reticulated band.
The front features rich relief decorations meticulously handmade by master artisans of the era, with phytomorphic motifs and volutes at the corners and in the central areas, interspersed with ornamental chiselled elements. These decorations give the sensation of seeing a splendid floral and foliate interlacing, with volutes that swirl around the corners of the frame and cascading central zones.
The central band, suggestive, is decorated with a reticulated or lozenge pattern (also defined as a "honeycomb").
The inner band is finished with red velvet (textile passe-partout), which creates an elegant color contrast with the gilding and enhances the brightness of the painting.
The outer gradated area is refined, featuring a braided incision all around the frame.
The gilding shows a warm, homogeneous patina with slight signs of time and minimal wear at the more protruding points.
A frame of notable impact, a masterpiece capable of enriching and contextualizing important works, contributing significantly to their aesthetic presentation. Ideal for museums, galleries and apartments.
