The diversity of Pende African masks
This traditional oval mask comes from eastern Pende. These maskmakers are known for their very geometric masks, in contrast to the western Bapende masks which are more naturalistic. This mask is named kindombolo. It is a clown mask; in English it is nicknamed "trouble maker" due to its outrageous behavior during outings.
