Description from the seller
Lotto Presentation:
Elegant double-body trumeau cabinet, made in Italy in the mid-20th century in perfect Louis XV style (Barocchetto). The piece features a solid walnut structure, entirely veneered and enriched by refined inlays in maple and fruitwoods.
Analysis of the Structure:
Upper Body (Display): Characterized by a curved and broken entablature. The two doors have central inlaid panels with motifs of a "gallant scene" (figures in bucolic landscapes) surrounded by floral frames. Inside are shaped shelves.
Central Body (Ribalta): The drop-leaf door, also richly inlaid with a central medallion, opens to reveal a pigeonhole with four small drawers and a central compartment. The desk surface is wide and functional.
Lower Body (Base): Follows the curved line of the structure with three large front drawers. The base ends with saber legs typical of the eighteenth-century style.
Technical Details and Condition:
Hardware: Original bronze cast and chiseled handles and escutcheons with rocailles motifs.
Condition: The piece presents excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid. There are light and normal signs of wear on the polish and small superficial scratches consistent with age (visible in close-up photos), which do not impair its aesthetic value but attest to the period authenticity.
Keys: One functioning key present.
