Beautiful monograph on Alvar Aalto written by Winkler and published in 1987 (first German edition translated from Hungarian). It is a concise critical study of about 44 pages of text that traces the forty years of the Finnish architect's career. It includes a detailed list of his structural works, a bibliography and a rich visual apparatus consisting of about 80 photographs and architectural plans of his main projects.
Alvar Aalto (1898–1976): universally recognized as the father of modernism in the Nordic countries. He redefined functionalism by integrating natural materials (especially wood) with organic and undulating forms.
Oszkár Winkler (1907–1984): a well-known Hungarian architect, academic and writer, winner of the prestigious Ybl Prize. He devoted part of his essay-writing activity to illustrating the works of the great masters of international modern architecture through the Architektúra series.
The volume is presented in excellent condition. Dust jacket intact and defect-free. Binding solid. Inner pages clean with no underlining, folds or stains. An excellent collectible copy.
