Antique Directoire-style round tripod table in walnut, dating from 1850–1900, measuring 88 cm in diameter and 76.5 cm high.
Description from the seller
Elegant three-legged Directory table in solid walnut and burl, ideal as a center or card table. The piece features a refined tripod base typical of the Directory period, providing both stability and an elegant profile.
The circular top is enhanced by a substantial apron veneered in fine flame-figured walnut burl, adding movement and warm color contrast to the clean lines of the flared, tapered legs.
Condition:
The piece has already undergone careful conservation restoration.
The structure is solid and stable, and the finish beautifully highlights the original grain.
Surface details: The top retains its beautiful original patina and bookmatched grain.
As shown in the photographs, the surface has a few slight signs of use consistent with its age, including a light surface scratch on the right-hand side, minor variations in sheen, and tiny historic traces of old woodworm holes, all of which were properly treated and stabilized during restoration.
The edge is intact and without losses.
Internal structure and authenticity: The underside of the table (not visible when in use) confirms the piece’s authenticity and period.
It features a robust period reinforcing structure with stretchers and fixing blocks made from wood of the same period. The patina on the underside is dark, original, and untouched by the cosmetic restoration, showing the characteristic marks of artisanal and workshop production from the late eighteenth to the early nineteenth century.
Dimensions: Diameter: 88 cm. Overall height: 76.5 cm. Apron height: 13 cm. Top thickness: 2 cm.
