The frame is made of gilded wood on a stucco (gesso) ground, with floral decorations on the broad sides and a fine twisted rope edge along the outer rim. Around the glass runs a refined leaf-motif border.

The original mirror glass shows clear foxing — the characteristic dark spots created by the oxidation of the historic mercury layer on the back. This is a highly sought-after feature among lovers of authentic antiques and confirms the piece's age.

Condition: in the corners there are hairline cracks visible in the gesso layer (see detail photos), in keeping with the piece's age. No recent restorations. Otherwise in original, unrestored condition.



De lijst is uitgevoerd in verguld hout op een gestuukte (gesso) ondergrond, met florale decoraties op de brede zijden en een fijne gedraaide touwrand langs de buitenrand. Rondom het glas loopt een verfijnde bladmotieflijst.

Het originele spiegelglas vertoont duidelijke foxing — de kenmerkende donkere vlekken die ontstaan door oxidatie van de historische kwikzilverlaag aan de achterzijde. Dit is een veelgezocht kenmerk bij liefhebbers van authentiek antiek en bevestigt de ouderdom van het stuk.

Conditie: in de hoeken zijn haarscheurtjes zichtbaar in de gesso-laag (zie detailfoto’s), passend bij de leeftijd van het stuk. Geen recente restauraties. Verder in originele, ongerestaureerde staat.
