Description from the seller

This fine creamware amphora-shaped vase was produced by Boch Frères Kéramis in La Louvière, according to form 822 and decorated with pattern 1061. Its elegant silhouette combines an oval, slightly elongated body, a short, flared neck, a molded circular foot, and two large rectangular handles. Through its proportions and architectural treatment, this piece illustrates the workshop’s taste for large decorative forms intended for interior ornament in the early 20th century.

Pattern 1061 is particularly rich: a wide polychrome floral frieze, including pansies and foliage, unfolds on a grid network. It is framed by burgundy bands punctuated with small turquoise medallions, while golden ornaments accentuate the lower part and the rim of the vase. The whole blends floral motifs, geometry, and gilded ornamentation in a vocabulary of late Art Nouveau, still very eclectic.

The condition is good considering its age. One of the handles shows a cooling crack, visible in the photographs. This is old and the decoration was applied over it; no material loss is observed in this area. Some signs of use as well as occasional wear on the gilding highlights and on the decoration are also visible.

Founded in La Louvière in 1841, Boch Frères Kéramis experienced a particularly fruitful period in the realm of decorative earthenware at the beginning of the 20th century. Charles Catteau joined the factory in 1906 and quickly took charge of the Fantaisie Workshop. This piece, dated to the early 1910s, bears witness to a transitional period: its decoration remains deeply floral and ornamental, while the manufactory is about to evolve toward the stylistic explorations that would lead to the flowering of Art Deco under Catteau’s impetus.

Dimensions are:
- Height: 29.7 centimeters,
- Width: 17 centimeters,
- Upper diameter: 8.4 centimeters,
- Base diameter: 9 centimeters,
- Weight: 1300 grams.

The vase will be carefully packaged and shipped promptly in a secure manner. In-person pickup and combined shipping are available. The photos are part of the description.
