AKG - D224E Dynamic microphone

The AKG D224E is an extraordinary design realized in 1968 to overcome the limits that, until then, were considered for a dynamic microphone. It uses two separate transducers for the low and high frequencies, each tailored to the spectrum in which it must operate. The advantages of this approach are extreme linearity, absence of proximity effect, and neutral off-axis sounds; furthermore, the rear attenuation of -20 dB at all frequencies offers excellent rejection characteristics.
Warm, punchy mid-tones, precise and homogeneous highs, no phantom power required, flat response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, excellent transient response and capability to handle high SPL, and a narrow, uniform cardioid polar diagram make the D224E an exceptional microphone for faithful recording of acoustic instruments, especially acoustic guitars, classical guitars, and percussion. The high-frequency system is equipped with a compensation winding to eliminate the effects of magnetic fields. The low-frequency response can be attenuated by the two-position bass roll-off (-7 and -12 dB at 50 Hz). The D-224E has an impedance of 200 ohms and comes with a standard XLR-type connector.
