Box - Wood

Refined Overley cigarette/jewelry box from the 1940s-50s of the 20th century. The box is entirely made of light wood, characterized by sober horizontal grooves on the sides that emphasize its modernist lines. The glass panel is set into the lid; the external surface of the glass is adorned with a fine silver decoration of substantial thickness, especially noticeable to the touch, in the silver-overley workmanship. The Mid-Century motif depicts three swallows in dynamic flight, surrounded by geometric floral tendrils in a late Art Deco taste. The object is in good condition and can be used as a decorative item or as a container, and it is highly sought after by collectors.
