Description from the seller
I am putting up for sale a spectacular JEFE Luna-Car, item no. 810, a large vintage-space toy manufactured in Spain and inspired by the world of space conquest.
The Luna-Car is distinguished by its imposing futuristic chassis, its large transparent panoramic cabin, its numerous mechanical and electrical components as well as its various play functions.
The original manual presents the Luna-Car as a:
"Guided vehicle, lifter of a flying propeller and space exploration capsule."
This specimen is particularly interesting due to the combination of the vehicle, numerous accessories, its wired controller, its red flying propeller, its manual, and its large original illustrated box.
Description of the vehicle
The Luna-Car has a large gray body bearing the inscriptions "LUNA-CAR" and "JEFE."
The vehicle is equipped notably with a large transparent panoramic cabin, several wheels, transparent domes with figures, an antenna/radar, various colorful elements, lighting devices, and various equipment inspired by space exploration.
The vehicle is also accompanied by its spectacular red flying propeller system, an emblematic accessory of the Luna-Car and depicted on the original box illustration.
A wired control allows operation of the toy’s different functions.
Elements included in the lot
The lot includes:
the JEFE Luna-Car vehicle, item no. 810;
the large transparent panoramic cabin;
the figures and elements under the transparent domes;
the exploration capsule and the various elements visible in the photographs;
the antenna/radar;
the red flying propeller;
the wired control;
the original French operating manual;
the large original illustrated box.
The exact assembled set corresponds to the elements visible in the photographs. Given the toy’s age, the photographs also allow precise verification of the accessories and components present.
Overall condition of the Luna-Car
The vehicle is in good overall condition for its age and retains a particularly attractive presentation.
The bodywork retains its colors, the LUNA-CAR and JEFE inscriptions, as well as a large number of its original components, accessories and equipment.
The transparent parts, the bodywork and the various elements show normal signs of age and use: small scratches, scuffing, dust, marks and superficial wear.
These traces are consistent with the toy’s age as a collectible.
The vehicle has not been restored.
No disassembly of the mechanism or any repair attempts have been made in order to preserve as much as possible its state and authenticity.
Function test
A test run was performed with batteries.
During this test, the mechanism responded to power-up.
The green lamp lit up.
The red flying propeller started to spin briefly.
However, the vehicle did not move during the test.
These observations indicate that some electrical and mechanical functions still respond, but the overall operation of the Luna-Car is currently partial.
The vehicle may require a mechanism cleaning, a service, or a repair to potentially restore all or part of its original functions.
No guarantee can be given regarding the possibility of full restoration to operation.
The toy is therefore sold as an old collectible with partial functioning.
The original illustrated box
The presence of the large JEFE Luna-Car original box is an important element of this set.
This spectacular box retains its large retro-futuristic illustrations depicting the Luna-Car exploring a lunar landscape, accompanied by astronauts and spaceships.
The illustrations, colors and the main inscriptions, notably "LUNA-CAR", "JEFE" and "Article no. 810", remain visible and allow immediate identification of the model.
The box shows heavy wear due to age, use and storage.
It has tears, folds, scuffing, crush marks, missing cardboard and old repairs with adhesive tape.
Despite its very worn state, its presence is of interest to a collector.
This is the original box that accompanied the toy, kept for several decades.
It serves as both a display element, an identification aid and documentation for the Luna-Car.
The box has been kept as is and has not been restored in order to preserve its original character.
Its exact condition is clearly visible in the numerous photographs.
Original operating manual
The lot is accompanied by its original French operating manual, "Char Lunaire - Article num. 810".
The manual describes the Luna-Car’s various functions, including vehicle movement, steering, the lifter of the flying propeller and the space exploration capsule.
It shows signs of aging, creases, wear marks and tears along certain edges.
It remains legible and constitutes an interesting documentary supplement for this set.
Interest for collectors
This Luna-Car is a remarkable testament to the Golden Age of space and retro-futurist toys, strongly influenced by space conquest and lunar exploration.
The interest of this specimen lies notably in the combination of the large vehicle, its many visible elements, the red flying propeller, the wired control, the original manual and the large illustrated period box.
The presence of certain signs of electrical reaction during the test is also interesting information for a collector who wishes to keep the toy as is or potentially undertake a later mechanism revision.
An imposing and highly decorative collectible item intended for enthusiasts of antique toys, space toys, lunar vehicles, vintage science fiction, Spanish toys and objects related to space conquest.
Important information for the buyer
The toy is sold as an old collectible with partial functioning.
The test conducted showed the green lamp lighting up and a brief rotation of the red propeller. The vehicle did not move.
No disassembly or repairs to the mechanism have been performed.
Given the toy’s age, no guarantee of current or future functioning can be provided.
The photographs are an integral part of the description. They allow precise assessment of the condition of the vehicle, accessories, manual and original box.
