Although the porcelain body bears the swords with the dot from the Marcolini period (1774–1814), this type of luxury match strikers with silver mounts was typically popular around the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century (circa 1890–1920) as a chic desk or smoking accessory. It was very common at the time for antique porcelain shapes or motifs from the factory to be equipped with silverwork.
