Description from the seller
Dutch Crystal Decanter with Solid Silver Mount – .833 Silver, ca. 1890
An elegant Dutch crystal decanter dating from around 1890, finely decorated with engraved floral motifs and finished with a beautiful solid silver mount in .833 silver. A stylish example of luxury Dutch tableware from the late 19th century.
The clear crystal features carefully rendered flowers, leaves, and tendrils, finely engraved into the glass. The crystal’s transparency and subtle floral decoration give the decanter a light and elegant appearance.
The solid silver mount creates a beautiful contrast with the clear glass and highlights the object’s high quality. The .833 silver used is characteristic of Dutch silverware from this period and forms a particularly harmonious combination with the engraved crystal.
Decanters of this kind were part of the more luxurious tableware of the late 19th century and combined the craft of the glass engraver with that of the silversmith. A decorative and collectible object with timeless appeal.
