Description from the seller
Dutch crystal carafe with solid silver mount – .833 silver, ca. 1890
An elegant Dutch crystal carafe from around 1890, made with finely cut facets and fitted with a high-quality solid silver mount of .833 silver. A stylish example of luxury Dutch table glass from the end of the 19th century.
The clear crystal is carefully ground all around, creating sharp facets that capture and refract light beautifully. The geometric facets emphasize the crystal’s clarity and give the carafe a powerful, timeless look.
The solid silver mount forms an elegant contrast with the transparent glass. The use of .833 silver, characteristic of Dutch silverware from this period, emphasizes the high quality and luxurious execution of the piece.
Such carafes belonged to the finer tableware of affluent households and beautifully combine the traditions of crystal cutting and Dutch silverwork.
